Plus Sized Clothing
Learning to dress your plus size body can be challenging. If you are a bigger woman I’m sure you have paid a lot of attention to which plus sized clothing looks good on you.
But have you given much thought to accessorizing your plus sized wardrobe? There are many accessories which will flatter your figure that every plus size woman must have in their wardrobe. Let me talk you through four of them…
1. An Appropriately Sized Handbag
What size is your handbag? If you have a handbag that is too small it can make a plus size woman bigger than you actually are. Avoid teeny tiny bags and totes!
Scale is really important. The next time you go shopping for a handbag make sure you choose a bag that’s in proportion to your size. Ensure your bag has strong straps which fit easily through your arms.
Experiment with color (as it’s dull to stick with safe black all the time). A handbag is the perfect outlet for trying out new fashion colors – especially if you are wary of wearing bright colored clothes.
2. Elastic Belts
Do not think that just because you are a plus size woman you shouldn’t wear a belt. Belts give you a great chance to show off the smallest part of your body (which is typically your waist area).
If a regular belt is too tight for you, go for an elastic belt. If you are pear-shaped you may want to avoid wearing a belt on your waist. If this is the case wear your elastic belt under your bust area.
3. Plus Sized Leggings
I have listed leggings as a plus sized accessory because they aren’t quite a substitution for pants. If you are plus size woman using them instead of pant then this is the wrong way to be wearing them!
Wear leggings under a long tunic, skirt or a long sweater dress. This will add style and comfort to your clothes.
4. Large Jewellery
Scale (as I’ve mentioned earlier) is the key when wearing jewellery too. A plus size woman should avoid very tiny and dainty jewellery.
Don’t think you only have to stick to super chunky or very large pieces. Smaller jewellery can look good if you wear it right. The trick is to pick necklaces, bracelets and rings that will flatter your plus size body and look in proportion.
5. Scarves
I’m not talking the winter woolly type here. I’m talking about wearing scarves for every day. A beautiful silk or chiffon scarf never goes out of style and is very feminine looking.
Experiment with tying your scarf in different ways. Loop it into a pretty bow at the front of your neck. Or leave 2 long ends flowing loose over your back like the French do.
Again if you are color shy in your plus size clothes – scarves are an instant and inexpensive way to inject some color into your wardrobe.
